Taking Control Of A Flea Problem

Fleas are a problem pest that can be an issue for pets that you have, but they can also be a problem for humans as well. Fleas will bite both pets and humans and leave them with welts that can be very itchy. Fleas can come in from the outside and from another person's house. They can come in on your clothing, shoes or on your body, or on the body of your pet and then infest your home. To get control of these pests, there are a few things you can do. Spray Your Yard

Spray your yard to get rid of the pests in the yard and to prevent them from getting back into your home even after you've gotten rid of them in the house. They will continue to come inside if you still have a problem in your yard. Spray your yard using a pesticide spray that is made to kill fleas. Spray the yard according to the manufacturer's instructions and kill these pests. Repeat the process if necessary. Be sure your children and any pets are not in the yard while you do this.

Vacuum The House And Wash Blankets/Bedding

You need to vacuum your home to remove pests that may be hiding in your carpeting or in the fibers of your upholstered furniture. Vacuum everything you can and wash all bedding or other items that you can wash to kill fleas. Empty the canister of the vacuum cleaner outside so fleas that may remain don't get back into your house. Fleas on your bedding, blankets or throw pillows can be killed in the washer/dryer, so wash everything you can.

Spray Inside Your Home

You need to spray the inside of your house with a pesticide spray that is made to kill fleas. Use the spray according to the directions and use it throughout your home. Repeat every couple of days until you have gotten rid of the fleas in your home.

If you have a problem with fleas, they can infest your entire home quickly, as they can hitch a ride on your pet or on you or on others in your home.
